Tell us about yourself.

"I am married to Tom Bullerman. We have two sons: Tyler Bullerman and Trent Bullerman. Tyler is married to Hilary and has a daughter Brynn (20). Trent and his wife, Christine, have two daughters: Kendall (9) and Andi (3). We have raised Angus cattle for 31 years. The Angus herd started with a couple of purebred heifers for the boys for 4-H. I worked for Nobles County Farm Service Agency for 36 years and retired in 2016. I went back on a part-time basis and just retired from that about a month ago.

Tyler is involved in the day-to-day operations of the cattle operation. Tom and both boys also custom raise pigs from iso-wean to finish (around 17,000 head annually). Trent is a co-owner of our local lumber yard. When we get in a pinch on big jobs, Trent is always ready to pitch in.

I worked off the farm for many years, but I have always helped when it’s time to move cattle, work calves, or even fix some fence. I do maintain all the records for the farm and for the cattle. The record-keeping on the cattle is a constant job. I learned early on that our memory isn’t great once we get a couple of days beyond an event, so get it wrote down!"

What is your favorite thing to make?

"My favorite thing to make is desserts and pies. I particularly like cheesecakes and anything that is blueberry."

What is your least favorite job in the kitchen?

"My least favorite job in the kitchen is dishes! Thank goodness for dishwashers!"

What is your favorite cooking tip/trick?

"I get a case of blueberries every year and have them in the freezer. They are great to have on hand."

Where did you learn to cook?

"My mom and grandma really influenced me in the kitchen. My grandmother was known for her bread and buns. She brought buns to every family event for as long as I can remember. My mother is a really good cook as well. Her specialty has evolved into cookies. Her cookies are always perfectly shaped. It doesn’t seem to matter what the recipe is - they are always great."
